Meet The Trainer

Tina Warnock

Tina began working closely with the founder of AVPT Dr Diane Austin to develop the UK-based international distance training programme in 2016. Since 2018 Tina has trained intensively alongside Dr Austin and from 2026 will take on the role of lead trainer for this programme. She is currently undertaking doctoral research at the Cambridge Institute of Music Therapy Research at Anglia Ruskin University, UK, investigating the impact of Austin Vocal Psychotherapy training on a music therapist’s voice, sense of self and therapeutic practice.

Tina completed undergraduate studies in social psychology in 1992 and her music therapy training in 2000. She has extensive experience in a wide range of clinical settings including child and adolescent mental health, child development, special education, elderly mental health and learning disabilities.  Her current practice focuses on vocal psychotherapy with people in cancer care, women with a history of trauma and abuse, and private practice with adults. 

Tina has taught on the Masters in Music Therapy Programme at Roehampton University in London, UK and is a visiting lecturer at a number of UK universities. She has presented and published about the use of the voice in music therapy since 2010. In 2009 she established Belltree Music Therapy in Brighton (www.belltree.org.uk).
